Abstract

National and cultural peculiarities have a significant impact on the effectiveness of communication. The emergence of obstacles in the process of intercultural interaction is due to the influence of both linguistic and extra linguistic factors. The main problems that make intercultural contacts unsuccessful are considered to be in the differences in the field of cultural self-perception of communicants, exactly the worldview and world perception. Mastering a foreign culture an important factor is not only in the language aspect, but also in the means of expressing and understanding non-verbal means of communication. According to the research work the linguistic and cultural specifics of verbal and non-verbal communication of such territorial variant as the English language functioning on the territory of Scotland, which was formed as the result of the creolization phenomenon (the adaptation of the English language to the realities of the autochthonous linguistic cultures of Scotland) are analyzed. The analyzed components of communication: verbal and non-verbal functioning in an inseparable connection are of main attention according to the author’s ideas. Non-verbal means of communication help to strengthen the communication process, give it the right context, help to emphasize important points. Without taking into account all the components of both verbal and non-verbal communication, it is impossible to come to a complete and adequate understanding of the country's culture’s ideas. As a result of the interference processes influence on the part of local languages during the creolization of the English language of Scotland, the structure of the territorial version of the English language of Scotland is the subject to transformations in its phonetic, grammatical and lexical structure, as a result of which phonetic creolization, grammatical creolization, lexical creolization processes occur in the analyzed territorial version.
