Abstract

Political discourse is the object of research of many generations of researchers, moreover, not only linguists. Among them are psychologists, philosophers, sociologists, journalists, etc. In connection with the latter, the scientific research paradigm is represented by many scientific schools and directions, which are noted in the article. The focus of this article is on the functional features of verbs with the semantics of opposition, which are widely represented in political discourse and are used to introduce political discourse. One of the synonymous groups of these verbs are verbs with the hyperseme "argue", which determines their common functional features. The presence of hyposemes of each verb determines the specifics of their functioning and their distinctive characteristics. Diffinition and component analysis allowed us to fully present the lexicographic and combinatorial potential of each lexeme. This technique can be transferred to the study of other lexemes with the meaning of confrontation.
