Visualization in Primary Education: A Historical Review and Modern Aspects of Visualization

The digitalization of society and the transformation of the cognitive characteristics of modern children are driving the transition from the classical principle of visualization to the phenomenon of visualization in primary education. The aim of the study is to provide a theoretical justification for the transition from classical visualization to digital one and to develop practical guidelines for the balanced use of visual aids aimed at increasing the efficiency of knowledge acquisition and the development of cognitive abilities in primary school students. This paper presents a historical and pedagogical analysis of the development of visual aids from antiquity to the digital age. The importance of visual tools in primary school is substantiated, taking into account the visual-figurative thinking of young school-age children. The authors reveal the didactic potential of three types of visual aids: illustrative, developmental, and creative. Particular attention is paid to the risks of excessive digitalization and scientifically substantiated criteria for the balanced use of visual aids, ensuring the preservation of the activity-based and cultural components of learning.
